The Daikoku society was established in 1960 and is the oldest Go club in Austria. The club is a member of the Austrian Go Association.

The name of our society is special because Daikoku actually is the name of a japanese god of fortune (wealth, commerce and trade). Another society has used the name of Daikoku's son Ebisu (god of fishers or merchants) as their club name.
